Alice Lena Deaver, 87, of Sabetha, died January 8, 2011 at the Sabetha Manor. She was born on December 15, 1923 the daughter of Jacob Plattner and Lena (Edelman) Plattner in Oneida, Kansas. She attended Enterprise School. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” A. Deaver on November 9, 1958. Alice worked as a book-keeper in Sabetha for the Gas Service Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha, and helped in the kitchen with special events and funeral meals. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, baking, bird watching, strays cats and walking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill” Deaver on November 1, 2000; three sisters, Marie Plattner, Helen Plattner and Tillie Menold; four brothers, John Plattner, Albert Plattner, Walter Plattner and Benjamin Plattner.
Alice is survived by one son, Craig Deaver of Sabetha; one daughter, Diana Stoller and her husband, Meryl of Austin, Texas; one sister, Laura Keim and her husband, Gary of Fairview, Kansas; one brother, Henry Plattner of Sabetha, and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice, or the First United Methodist Church sent in care of the funeral home.
