Alicia Francis Burdick

Alicia Francis Burdick, 90, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the Sabetha Community Hospital in Sabetha. 

Alicia was born on July 3, 1933, in Baileyville, Kansas.  She was the sixth of fourteen children born to Ben and Anna (Wiltz) Deters.

Alicia married Clarence Burdick of Seneca, Kansas on April 25, 1956, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville.  They were blessed with two daughters and celebrated their 67^th wedding anniversary in April this year.

Alicia worked as a seamstress from her home until she became the Dietary Manager, nutritionist, and cook at the Fountain Villa Nursing Home in Sabetha.  Alicia enjoyed baking, sewing, needlework, bowling, and golfing.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Merlin Deters, Urban Deters, Raymond Deters, Alvin J. Deters, Lester Deters, an infant brother, Shirley Banks, Lucille Boeckman, and Leroy Deters.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Clarence of Sabetha; two daughters, Wanda (Mark) Hartter of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Vickie (Kevin) Goodman of Sabetha; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Aurea Schmitz; and her three brothers, Dwaine Deters, Bernard Deters, and Gene Deters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha.  A visitation will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be held immediately following the Mass at the Sabetha Cemetery in Sabetha.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
