Allen Garber

Allen G. Garber of Sabetha, Kansas died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Stormont Vail Hospital at the age of 81.


Allen was born on February 29, 1928 at home south of Berwick to Anna H. (Hartter) Garber and Andrew F. Garber. Allen was the youngest of nine children. He was raised around the Berwick area. Allen joined the Air Force in 1945. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary Bauman on July 19, 1946 in Washington, Kansas. Allen was discharged form the Air Force in 1947. Allen and Rose Mary lived and farmed south of Berwick. Allen started carrying mail for the Sabetha Post Office in August of 1961. He retired from the postal service. He was a member of the American Legion and NorthRidge Church both of Sabetha.


Allen was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, two brothers and one great grandson. Allen is survived by his wife, Rose Mary of the home; one daughter, Bonnie M. Dundee; two sons, Randall E. Garber and his wife, Kay and Douglas A Garber and his wife, Debra all of Sabetha, Kansas 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.


Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Family visitation will be Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the NorthRidge Church. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery with military honors conducted by the V.F.W. Post #7285 0f Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthRidge Building Fund or to Gideon's International sent in care of the funeral home.
