Alvin Roggenkamp

A lvin L. Roggenkamp, 76, of Axtell, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Crestview Manor in Seneca.

Alvin was born October 25, 1937 in Axtell, Kansas, the son of Edwin and Edith (Pavlicek) Roggenkamp.  He attended school in Baileyville and graduated high school in 1956.  Alvin helped his father, Edwin on the farm northeast of Axtell until he joined the U.S. Army in 1961.  He was honorably discharged from the army in 1963.  He went to work for AT&T in 1963 as a technician.  As a technician and a trouble shooter for AT&T, Alvin traveled to every state in the union.  In 1990 he retired after 27 years with the company.  Alvin was an avid gardener and donated his crops to local nursing homes, friends, and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith in 1993 and Edwin in 2005, and an infant sister, Laura Mae Roggenkamp.  Survivors include two brothers, Donald “Gene” Roggenkamp of Axtell, Kansas and William (Sharon) Roggenkamp of Sabetha, Kansas; a sister, Buena Ellenbecker of Marysville, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell.  Recitation of the rosary is Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Interment will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are to a fund yet to be designated by the family or donor's choice, sent in care of the funeral home, 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538.
