Betty Hoover

B etty J. Campbell Hoover, 84, formally of Oneida, Kansas died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia, Kansas.

She was born on July 14, 1933 the daughter of James C. Allen and Edith B. (Davis) Allen at Oneida, Kansas.

Betty married Marvin Campbell, they later divorced, then married Paul Hoover on June 12, 1981.

Betty held various jobs including waitressing at local cafes, store clerk at The Ben Franklin in Seneca, KS, worked for Campbell Soup in Tecumseh, NE, as head cook at the Seneca Grade School until going full-time for the Kansas Division of Motor Vehicles as a scale inspector until her retirement in 1995.  Betty and Paul enjoyed their retirement winters in Mission, Texas and spending time with their children, grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Hoover; two sons, Marvin “Gene” Campbell and Marvin “Sonny” Campbell, Jr.; a grandson, Dennis Campbell; a grand-daughter, Ashley Tallent; five brothers, Harold L. Allen, William “Bill” Allen, Darwin “Darv” Allen, James “Jerome” Allen; Fredrick “Fred” Allen and sister, Kathryn “Katy” Hough.

She is survived by a son, Ronnie (Laura) Campbell of Alvarado, TX; one grand-daughter, Latisha (Gregg) Humphry of Hiawatha, KS; two grandsons, Noah Lemmons and Jaxs Humphry of Hiawatha, KS; two brothers, Rex Allen of Lakewood, CO and Howard Allen of Oneida, KS and a sister, Marie Jones of Ozawkie, KS.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  A visitation will be from 9:00 to service time at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be made in the Oneida Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s-Dementia Unit at Eastridge Nursing Home   sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
