B everly Ann Meister, 86, of Sabetha, KS passed away peacefully with family and friends by her side on Saturday, December 23, 2017, after a brief stay at Sabetha Manor Nursing Home.

Beverly was born at home on December 23, 1931 to Joseph and Mary Marcena (Larimer) Hundley. She attended the Sabetha schools, and on November 21, 1948 she married William E. “Bill” Meister of rural Humboldt, NE.

Beverly always maintained good work ethics, whether at home or outside the home. In her youth she helped her dad at Hundley Salvage, and could throw iron as well as he could. In her adult years she worked as a waitress and cook for M&M Café, Nab’s, Casper Airport Steak House, Redmond Hotel, and Sabetha Country Club. She also worked various other local businesses such as Sabetha Lanes, Fountains Drug Store, Campbell’s, and Sabetha Schools as a bus driver and as a CNA and CMA at Fountain Villa, Sabetha Manor, and Maple Heights in Hiawatha. Beverly also worked as a cashier at Sac & Fox Casino.

Throughout her lifetime Beverly enjoyed a good cup of coffee, and lots of chatting with her friends and family around her table. She enjoyed dancing, especially the Polka, playing Pinochle, roller skating, bowling, softball, and her many beloved pets. Beverly was a member of the United Brethren Church of Sabetha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Bill Meister on September 21, 2012; a grandson, Michael S. Gerber; and great-grandson, Charlie Meister.

She is survived by her children, Marcena (Leland) Gerber of Gardner, KS, Denise DeBusk of Morrill, KS, William J. Meister (Jan Weber), and Wayland K. Meister both of Sabetha, KS; her siblings, Roberta J. Argabright  and Joseph L. Hundley, both of Sabetha, KS; a step-brother, Scotty Larimer of Carbondale, KS; grandchildren, Adam J. Gerber (Christopher Drazic) of Kansas City, MO, Sidney (Jason) Lang of Sabetha, KS, Shane (Amber) Meister of Wichita, KS, Shawn Hulsing of Seneca, KS, Sheyenne (Nate) Farwell of DuBois, NE, and Courtney (CJ) Loiseau of Frankfort, KS; a step-granddaughter, Alicia (Reggie) Pernell of Seneca, KS; and thirteen great-grandchildren, and an abundance of nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Matthew and dog, Pearl.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. prior to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be made at a later date and time. Memorial contributions may be made to United Brethren in Christ Church, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
