Cassie McKenney

C assie A. McKenney, 45, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born on December 12, 1970 in Wichita, Kansas to Bobby and Kathleen Wheeler. Cassie worked in many different professions including her favorite job of working in the Bern Elementary School as a cook, and janitor where she loved all the kids dearly. Cassie was a very loving person never leaving anyone without a 15 minute goodbye or without having the last word in a conversation. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews whenever possible. She also enjoyed watching the neighbor kids whom she loved. On February 22,1990 she married James Louis McKenney in Fairview, Kansas.  From this marriage they had two children, Kathleen and Calvin. Cassie also loved being around those she cared about. She had many friends and she loved them as her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Wheeler; her brother, Robert Wheeler; her grandparents; and a father-in-law, James R. McKenney, and lots of friends.

Survivors include husband, James McKenney of home; a daughter, Kathleen (Chris) Lanter of Everest; a son, Calvin McKenney at home; two beautiful granddaughters, Khloe and Harper; her mother, Kathleen Wheeler of Broken Arrow, OK; her sister, Deborah (John) Mikles of Owasso, OK; and her brother, Mike Wheeler, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Sabetha at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service time.
