Charles "Charlie" William McGee

Charles “Charlie” William McGee, 60, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, with his family by his side at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Charlie was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on June 19, 1962, and was the third child born to Charles “Bill” and Mary Alice (Fritch) McGee.  Charlie lived his entire life in Northeast Kansas.   He grew up in Hiawatha and attended Hiawatha schools.  He graduated from Hiawatha High School in the class of 1980.

Charlie was a truck driver nearly all his adult life, and he hauled various commodities throughout the years.  He drove for Spellmeier & Sons, Rixey Wertenberger, and Rison Trucking.  At the time of his death, he was driving for Fairview Express.  Charlie was dedicated to his work and always gave 110% to his trucking commitments.  Even through his illness, he never gave up and was planning what he would do if his health didn’t allow him to return to trucking.

Charlie married Connie Boeckman in 1983, they were later divorced.  They were blessed with three sons, Ryan, Scott, and Andy.  Charlie spoke of his sons constantly, and everyone that knew him, knew how proud he was of his sons.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, May Luster, and a cousin, Jim Wetzel.

Charlie is survived by his three sons, Ryan (Lauren) of Cape Coral, Florida, Scott and his fiancé, Sarah, of San Antonio, Texas, and Andy (Emily) of Woodbine, Iowa; his two grandchildren, Nash and Walker Rose; his sisters, MaryLee McGee of Hiawatha, Dorothy Peters of Amity Missouri, and Cindy (Bob) Eppens of Hiawatha; and several nieces and nephews.

“Thank you, Charlie, for being you.”
