Charles L. Kidwell, 78, of Sabetha died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. Charles was born on December 19, 1932 the son of Leonard and Hazel Marie (Brammer) Kidwell near Oneida, Kansas. He grew up in the Oneida area and attended and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1950. Charles was united in marriage to Phyllis Beyer on August 31, 1952. Three sons were born to this union. Charles entered the United States Army on March 3, 1953 and served until March 2, 1955. After he was honorably discharged from the Army he became a member of the Army Reserves on March 2, 1955 and served until March 2, 1961. Charles was a life time resident of Nemaha and Brown county. He delivered fuel in the Sabetha area. Charles was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ and served on the church council.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis in 1977; his step mother, Lois Kidwell in 2002. He is survived by three sons, Danny Kidwell of Edgewater, Maryland, Richard D. Kidwell of Sabetha and Eugene Kidwell of Bendena, Kansas; a brother, Frank Kidwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado and four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of the funeral home.
