Clara May Williams, 90, Vermillion, KS, died Tuesday, May 06, 2008 at the Eastridge Care Home in Centralia, KS.
She was born February 22, 1918 at Elmont, Kansas to Alfred C. Chilson and Rosa Lee Fanning Chilson. She attended Centralia High School and graduated in 1934.
On September 21, 1939 she married Robert Gerald Williams at Lowman Hill United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Robert died January 17, 1991.
She and Bob farmed and raised their family in the Vermillion area. She was a member of the Vermillion United Methodist Church and served in various church offices, she was active in the 4H in Vermillion; and also a member of the Jolly Time Club of Vermillion.
She is survived by three sons, Kyle Eugene Williams of Arlington Heights, Ill., Dale Kenneth Williams of Hiawatha, KS and Allan Ray Williams of Vermillion, KS; a sister Elsie Chilson Timberlake of Yuma, AZ; Four grandsons, four granddaughters; and nineteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William H. Chilson and Chalmer L. Chilson; and three sisters, Lois Chilson Clark, Rachel Chilson Adams, and Pansy Chilson Woodard.
Funeral services will be Saturday May 10. 2008 at the Vermillion United Methodist Church at 1:30 PM. Rev. Deborah Hanes-Nelson will conduct the services. Nancy Gafford is the organist and Dirk Colgrove will be the soloist. Casket bearers are Josh Williams, Scott Williams, Eric Williams, Todd Williams, Tom Williams, and Dan Noel. Burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery. There will be a family visitation Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials are being left to the Vermillion United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the Hayes Popkess Funeral Home, Centralia, KS.
