Clarence Heinen

February 3, 1923 — February 26, 2008

Clarence Ernest Heinen, 85 passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at his home. He was born February 3, 1923 in Kelly, the son of Barnhard and Pauline Heinen.

He married Irene Meyer on August 1, 1949. He began farming at Kelly then moved to rural Axtell in 1955 and continued to farm until he retired in 1995 and moved into Axtell.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping, gardening, fixing puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Irene. Other survivors include sons, Darrell, Doug, and Derek of Axtell; David of Olathe, Dewaine of Blue Rapids, and Dale of McPherson; daughters, D'Ann Allen of Seneca, Donna Rottinghaus of Axtell, and Darlene Dees of McPherson; 36 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Sylvester Heinen and two sisters, Elenora Ronnebaum and Alvina Rettele. He is preceded in death by one grandson, Dawson Heinen and five brothers, Clem, Lambert, Lawrence, Joe, and Albert; four sisters, Julia Konrad, Ottilia Rice, Isabel Wilhelm, and Ann Heinen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 at St. Michael's Church, Axtell. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Heinen, Justin Heinen, Shelton Allen, Kyle Heinen, Jesse Rottinghaus, Jared Heinen, Adam Heiman, Jake Heinen, and Jordan Heinen. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Axtell.

Memorial contributions may be left to St. Michael's Church of School and left in care of Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home, Axtell, Kansas.
