Dale Steele

October 16, 1926 — April 6, 2007

Dale Steele was born on October 16, 1926 near Morrill, Kansas the son of Frank Steele and Dola Oxley Steele. Two sons were born to this union.

Dale was raised in the Sycamore Springs community where he enjoyed a lifetime of farming. Dale graduated from Sabetha High School in 1944.

He was united in marriage to Jean Thompson on April 27, 1951. Four children were born to this union. He was a member of the Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha, where he served for many years on the church board.

Dale died on April 6, 2007 at his residence at the age of 80.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Steele of the home; one son, David Steele of St. Marys, Kansas; three daughters, Cheryl Mishler and her husband, David of Sabetha, Joyce Ruhnke of Fairview, Kansas and Dalene Smith and her husband, Randy of Everest, Kansas; one brother, Robert Steele of Sabetha and five grandchildren, J.D. Tibbetts, Layne Mishler, Sarah Smith, Abby Smith, Adrianna Hartley and one great grandchild Austin Smith.


Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha with the Reverend Don Jones and Pastor Randy Garber officiating. Linda Lehman will serve as organist. Lindsay Wittwer will play the piano and Kevin Moravec and Laura Girton will sing a duet. Honorary casket bearers will be Phil Bestwick, Robert Emert, Harold Emert, Harold Hartter, Reverend David Manning, Doug Meyer, Scott McCorkle and Rayburn Wikle. Casket bearers will be Weldon Aue, Jerry Cox, John Murchinson, Tom Robinson, Doug Wittwer and Sandon Wittwer.

A family visitation will be Monday evening 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Morrill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions will be made to the Trinity Church of the Brethren or the Kansas Dialysis Services both of Sabetha memorials may be sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
