Darlene Stahl

Darlene Ann (Lehmkuhl) Stahl, 72, of Fairview, Kansas died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.


She was born in the Woodlawn area on February 19, 1937 the daughter of Vincent Lehmkuhl and Margaret (Honeyman) Lehmkuhl the second of 10 children. She attended school in Sabetha and Fairview. She worked at the Cozy Cafe in Fairview and Mid Central Eggplant before being a homemaker.


Darlene was a member of the St. Augustine's Catholic Church parish. She was united in marriage to Larry Wayne Stahl at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Fidelity on July 31, 1954. The couple lived in the Newton, Kansas area for the first 6 years of their marriage and then resided in the Fairview Community for the remainder of their 55 years together.


Darlene enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and large family gatherings. Her family was her greatest enjoyment and she loved them all dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Larry of the home in Fairview; three sons, Larry Joe Stahl and his wife, Emy of Tecumseh, Nebraska, Arthur Stahl and his wife, Pam of Granger, Indiana and David Stahl and his wife, Jane of Morrill, Kansas; three daughters, Denise Pfeifer and her husband, Steve of Hays, Kansas, Leisa Stahl of Hiawatha, Kansas and Sheri Lay and her husband, Troy of Sabetha, Kansas; five brothers, LeRoy Lehmkuhl and his wife, Delones of Holton, Kansas, Larry Lehmkuhl and his wife, Karen of Hiawatha, Kansas, Robert Lehmkuhl and his wife, Linda of Padonia, Kansas, Joe Lehmkuhl and his wife, Margie of Lenexa, Kansas and Terry Lehmkuhl and his wife, Christi of Chapman, Kansas; four sisters, Lois Buescher of Neosho, Missouri, Donna Young of Byhalia, Mississippi, Margie Bradbury and her husband, Rod of Sabetha, Kansas and Kathy Chandler and her husband, Steven of Hiawatha, Kansas; brother-in-law, Jerry Stahl and his two daughters, Pam Stahl and Khris Stahl; 7 grandsons, Travis Kriegshauser, Michael, Kriegshauser, Bryan Kriegshauser, Larry Kriegshauser, Jake Stahl, Ben Stahl and Eric Stahl and 8 granddaughters, Rachel Campagnoli, Dawn Stahl, Jenny Brockman, Jill Stahl, Jodi Stahl, Leighanne Farwell, Jessica Lay and Kelsey Lay; 6 great grandsons, Owne Campagnoli, Ian Campagnoli, Tucker Brockman, Brendan Stahl, Brody Severin and Kenton Farwell; 5 great granddaughters, Aryssa Borrenpohl, Alexis Borrenpohl, Kathelyn Brockman, Baileigh Stahl and Delaney Stahl.


Mass of Christian Burial will be recited on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Augustine's Catholic Church at Fidelity. Family visitation will be Sunday evening 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. with a parish rosary at 7:30 at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the St. Augustine's Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the B.C.D.S. (Brown County Development Services) sent in of the funeral home.
