DeAnn Keim

September 26, 1936 — August 16, 2013

D eAnn Keim, 76, of Sabetha died peacefully at the Sabetha Community Hospital on Friday, August 16, 2013.

She was born to Reverend Charles Walz and LaVerna (Sheldon) Walz in Parkston, South Dakota on September 26, 1936 on her parents wedding anniversary.  She attended public school in Milltown, South Dakota through the fifth grade. Her family then moved to Huntington, Indiana through her freshman year.  Moving to Sabetha, she graduated from Sabetha High School in 1954.

She married Glen L. Keim on October 17, 1954.  Together they had five children,  DeAnn co-founded and owned Keim Transportation, Inc. where she worked for many years.  Later, she operated her own Amway business and farmed a small acreage north of Sabetha.

She spent nine years as a member of the Sabetha Recreation Committee.  She enjoyed fishing, traveling, watching baseball and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She attended NorthRidge Church in Sabetha.

She is preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.  Survivors include her children, Anna Bruning (Tony) of Sabetha, Stan Keim (Donna) of Sabetha, Curtis Keim (Valerie) of Sabetha, Carl Keim (Christine) of Humboldt, Nebraska and Steve Keim (Cheryl) of Deerfield, Kansas and 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; siblings, Marlene Russo of Phoenix, Arizona, Billy Saavedra of Phoenix, Arizona and David Walz of Falls City, Nebraska.

A celebration of life service will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 of 2:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  Memorial contribution may be made to the Sabetha Community Hospital sent in care of the Morrill & Janes Bank 21 Main, Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
