Dearle Burton Whitten, 87 of Fall City, Nebraska died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Whitten was born December 20, 1921 at Salem, Nebraska to Madge L. Whiten and Mabel Hoover Whitten.

Dearle graduated from Salem High School in 1939. Then in 1942 he entered the US Navy and served for three years being honorably discharged on October 23, 1945. While serving his country in the Navy Dearle served aboard the USS Tennessee and the USS Wisconsin in the South Pacific.

He married Lillian Morehead in 1942. She survives of the home.

He is also survived by one son, Dr. Terry Whitten of Salem, Nebraska and a granddaughter Traci Lee and her husband David Ayres of Overland Park, Kansas. He is survived by three great granddaughters Lily, Lexi, and Lydia and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Saturday September 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Maple Cemetery in Salem, Nebraska.

Memorials are being left to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, Sabetha, Kansas.
