Donna Mae (Reed) Koch went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2012. She was born in Woodlawn, Kansas on December 5, 1921 to Ray and Cordia (Brammer) Reed.
On October 5, 1941, she married Charles Koch of Sabetha. After being together nearly 70 years, Charles passed away April 11, 2011. She is survived by her son, John Koch and his wife, Charlene of Parkville, Missouri; her daughter, Joan Williams and her husband, Meredith of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; one brother, Bob Reed and his wife, Donna of Tucson, Arizona. Donna has four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Charlie Koch and his wife, Pam and children Noah, Nicholas and Brooklyn of Liberty, Missouri, Adam Koch of San Francisco, California, Jennifer (Williams) Eckert and her husband, Matt and their children Reid and Emma of Overland Park, Kansas and Jacob Williams of Atlanta, Georgia.
Throughout her life, Donna was a devoted wife and mother. For 30 years, she worked alongside her husband, Charles as owners and operators of the Koch’s Motel. She loved to garden – canning and freezing fruits and vegetables in abundance. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she often baked fruit pies and desserts and had a big plate of cookies ready when her grandchildren came to visit.
Donna was a member of P.E.O. Chapter EB, Sabetha & Eastern Star. She was an active member of the Sabetha Congregational Church and helped with many bazaars and church dinners. In her free time, Donna loved to knit, did beautiful handiwork and was an avid seamstress. She particularly enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Donna Koch will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Community Hospital, sent in care of the funeral home.
