Edna Zo Parli, 94, formerly of Sabetha, Kansas died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Holiday Resort in Emporia, Kansas.
She was born on September 3, 1916 in Endicott, Nebraska. She was a board member of the Rock Creek Church of the Brethren and a lifetime deaconess of the Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha.
On August 12, 1936 she married Earl W. Parli in Hiawatha, Kansas.
Edna served as a 4-H leader, instructing members of the Busy Jayhawkers to sew and cook. Edna and Earl came to live with Gay Nita in Emporia in 1991, after selling their house in the country near Sabetha. She joined the Methodist church and became an active member of the local flower club, putting her talents to work outside, receiving a Yard of the Month Award.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Rose and Noah Hinton; daughters, Earlene Long; son, Larry D. Parli; nine brothers and sisters, and son-in-law, Jim Grimm.
She is survived by a daughter, Gay N. Grimm of Emporia, Kansas; a son, Joe D. Parli of Jenks, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Sabetha Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be left to the Edna Parli Memorial Fund, which the family will designate at a later date.
