E dward Larry Gaddis, 74, of Topeka passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015.
Larry was born September, 1, 1941 in Vliets, Kansas the son of Ralph Gaddis and Thelma (Loughry) Gaddis.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Gaddis and his wife, Lila (Reinhart).
He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Lila Reinhart on April 8, 1961 in Vermillion, KS. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in March of 1962 and worked as an aircraft mechanic. After serving in the military, he went to work as a computer programmer for the Kansas State Treasures Office in Topeka, KS. Larry and Lila lived in Silver Lake, KS for over thirty years as they raised their two sons. After many years of employment, he retired from the State of Kansas and began working as a delivery driver for Dillons Pharmacy in Topeka. Along with being a devoted University of Kansas basketball fan, he loved to travel with his Mom, Thelma and his sister, Lois Jean. Branson, MO was one of the many places he loved to visit. He also cherished the time he got to spend with his sons, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his mother, Thelma Gaddis of Vermillion, Kansas; two sons, Troy Gaddis of Phoenix, Arizona and Todd Gaddis (Brandi) of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Lois Jean Harper (Jim) of Vermillion, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Landon Gaddis and Taylor Gaddis of Topeka, Kansas.
Funeral service is Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vermillion Christian Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be made in the Vermillion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to the Disabled American Veterans Fund, sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 814 Castle St., Seneca, KS 66538.
