Edwin "Ed" L. Wiltz, 73, passed away at his home on August 3, 2008 surrounded by family, follow a brief illness. He was born on April 13, 1935 near Sabetha to John Wiltz and Helena Christman Wiltz. He attended grade school at Albany and Sabetha. He moved with is family to a farm near Merceir and attended four year at Powhattan High School graduating in 1953. He entered military service in January 10, 1956 and was discharged on June 17, 1959. He returned to Sabetha to make his home in Sabetha and worked for the city of Sabetha for 30 years. He worked for Farabee Construction for 7 years before his retirement in 1997. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Kreuzburg of Hiawatha on December 23, 1977.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo Wiltz and Bernard Wiltz: one sister, Mary Quinlan. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of the home in Sabetha; one son, Kevin Wiltz of Sabetha; two daughters, Jenny Flory of Valley Falls, Kansas and Lisa Snyder of Sabetha; two brothers, Joe Wiltz of Sabetha and Vince Wiltz of St. Mary's, Kansas' two sisters, Cecilia "Ceel" Huddleston of Ashland City, Tennessee and Millie McEleroy of Louisville, Kentucky and 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 5 step children, 7 step grandchildren and 1 great step grandchild.


Mass of Christian Burial will be recited on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. A family visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Albany Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Sabetha V.F.W. Post #7285. Memorial contribution may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice sent in care of the funeral home.
