lizabeth "Betty" Genitha Keating, 90, of Centralia, Kansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020, after a long illness.
Betty was born at a hospital in Corning, Kansas on June 6, 1930, daughter of Michael and Margaret (Adams) Noud. She was raised on a farm near Lillis, (Marshall County), Kansas. The farm had no electricity or running water. After graduating from Lillis High School, Betty went to a business college in Kansas City, Missouri eventually working for Price Candy Company in Kansas City and Milgram’s Grocery Store in Kansas City. She also was a bookkeeper for the family's insurance agency in Kansas City, Missouri. Betty was a long time member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar Society in Lillis, Kansas.
She married the love of her life Francis "Bud" Melvin Keating at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lillis, Kansas on August 28, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Thomasene Weissbeck; and her brother, William Noud.
Betty is survived by her two children, Michael (Cindi) Keating of Lillis, Kansas and Karen (Randy) Elliott of Havensville, Kansas; five grandchildren, Michael (Donna) Keating of St Louis, Missouri, Kelly (Brian) Keating of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Alex (Austin) Harrison of Corning, Kansas, Cassie Elliott of Corning, Kansas, Kate Elliott of Havensville, Kansas; one great-grandchild, Hadlee Harrison; and three brothers, Thomas (Dorothy) Noud of St. Anthony, Minnesota, Michael (JoAnn) Noud of Lillis, Kansas, and Patrick Noud of Leawood, Kansas.
All services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, Kansas. For those who have health concerns, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at their home page (http://www.saintspeterandpaul-seneca.com) have a live screen link that will allow the viewing of the funeral mass at a location of your choosing. The family will be at the church 30 minutes before the start of the rosary at 10:00 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will start shortly after the rosary. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lillis, Kansas. Betty will lie in state Thursday, Friday and Monday from 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia, Kansas for the care they offered to Betty for the last six years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia or the St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, sent in care of Popkess Memorial Chapel, 814 Castle St., Seneca, KS 66538.
