Esther Akin

February 22, 1930 — June 20, 2009

Esther Ionia White Akin, 79, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Life Care Center in Seneca. She was born in Vesta, Nebraska on February 22, 1930 to George and Hazel (Wentz) White. Esther graduated from Summerfield in 1947. On March 6, 1949 Esther White married Martin Akin. They live in Beattie and Axtell areas. They were married 60 years and Martin survives of the home. She was a homemaker all her life raising four children. Esther also enjoyed family genealogy and plastic canvas crafts. Esther was a member of the United Methodist Church in Axtell.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a granddaughter. Other survivors include her brother, Marvin White of Seneca, three sons, Tommy (Paula) of Glendale, AZ., Douglas (Candie) of Axtell, Randall (Shelby) of Albuquerque, NM., and one daughter, Charlotte (Dwight) Kruse of Fairview; twelve grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fifteen great-grand children, and four step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Landreth Popkess Funeral Home in Axtell from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Axtell at 10 am. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery, Axtell KS.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in honor of Esther may be made to the United Methodist Church Building Fund, or a charity of your choice.
