Eugene Fetter

Eugene William Fetter was born on February 27, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Emanuel Fetter and Mary Schlatter Fetter. He was the youngest of 16 children. He served in the army as a front-line medic during World War II, spending nearly 3 years in Europe and Africa. He worked in the glass industry in the Toledo area for over 36 years. Eugene was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church and served in the ministry for 26 years. He lived in Toledo until moving to Sabetha in 2004.
Eugene was united in marriage to Marilyn Dotterer on September 16, 1962 in Paulding, Ohio. To this union was born one daughter.


Eugene departed this life on February 1, 2009 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, 15 siblings, Joseph Fetter, Sarah Miller, Ruth Fetter, Emanuel Fetter, Elizabeth Fetter, Aaron Fetter, John Fetter, Daniel Fetter, Ida Fetter, Herma Whittaker, Paul Fetter, Mary Fetter, Grace Fetter, Richard Fetter and Elsie Fetter. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Fetter of Sabetha; one daughter, Edith Strahm and her husband, Richard of Sabetha and granddaughter, Hannah Strahm of Sabetha; three step grandsons, Scott Strahm and his wife Emily of Hancock, Minnesota, Evan Strahm of Sabetha and Brent Strahm and his wife, Brianna of Postville, Iowa and 5 step great grandchildren.

Funeral serves will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. A family visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Bern Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church in Toledo, Ohio sent in care of the funeral home.
