Francis "Frankie" Henry Haverkamp

Francis (Frankie) Henry Haverkamp III, age 81, of Seneca, Kansas passed away at Life Care Center of Seneca on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Frankie was born on August 7, 1941, in Kelly, Kansas to Frank and Alma (Niehues) Haverkamp.

Frankie attended Kelly High School and graduated in 1959.  After graduation, Frankie joined the Army National Guard.  He also continued to work on the family farm and worked locally for a construction crew.

At the age of 21, Frankie was involved in a car accident, and he suffered disabling injuries.  In 1995, he moved to the Nemaha County Training Center (NCTC) Residential Services home in Seneca.  He also attended the NCTC Day Service Program until his health declined.

Frankie loved to ride through the countryside and had an amazing memory.  He could recall facts about various farms and locations throughout Nemaha County.  Frankie enjoyed good food, dining out, and going to the casino.  Every day Frankie dedicated time to drawing sketches and he always had a drawing pad and pencils nearby. Frankie’s drawings were very detailed and technical, and his favorite subject matter was automobiles.

Frankie had many friends and was lovingly cared for by the staff at NCTC.  They treated him like family.  His friends often commented on his quick wit and quiet humor.  He will be dearly missed.

Frankie was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly, Kansas, and a member of the St. Joseph’s Society.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Dennis Haverkamp in 1955; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Haverkamp in 2014.

Frankie is survived by his siblings, Roger (Joan) Haverkamp of Goff, Kansas; Mary Alice (Donald) Uphaus of Seneca, Kansas; and Kenneth Haverkamp of Leavenworth, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; and his NCTC family.
