Fremond Meyer

Fremond Abraham Meyer was born on October 30, 1924 the son of Louis Meyer, Sr. and Sarah Hartter Meyer near Berwick, Kansas. Fremond attended Berwick Centre School.


Fremond was united in marriage to Ruth E. Strahm on April 27, 1947 at Bern, Kansas. Four children where born to this union. They lived on the farm where Fremond was born before moving into Sabetha in 1994. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this spring.


Fremond was a good neighbor and good friend. He took pride in and enjoyed his family and large circle of friends. He was always interested in his community and served on the boards of Berwick Oil, Nemaha County Farm Bureau, Nemaha County Extension Council, Nemaha County Free Fair Board, Farm and Home Administration, Farmer's Co-op Elevator and Nemaha County Soil Conservation Board. He also served as Berwick Township Trustee and Lucky Clover 4-H project leader.


Fremond enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered for the many wooden items he made and generously shared with family and friends.


Fremond died on July 9, 2010 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leroy Meyer, Earl Meyer and Louis Meyer, Jr.; five sisters, Mildred Strahm, Lena Strahm, Alberdena Vancil, Leora Baumgartner and Rosalene Brunner; one grandson, Abe Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Meyer of Sabetha; three sons, Lynn Meyer and his wife, Marti of Tucson, Arizona, Donald Meyer and his wife, Marianne of Sabetha, Robert Meyer and his wife, Gayle of Sabetha; one daughter, Janet Meyer of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Velmer Meyer and Ezra Meyer both of Sabetha; brother-in-law, Les Baumgartner and 11 grandchildren, Bjorn Meyer, Monique Daddona and her husband, John, Sasha Meyer, Michaela Meyer, Eric Root and his wife, Theresa, Zach Rathbun, Josh Rathbun, Kelsea Rathbun, Jaclyn Meyer, Jessica Rebant and her husband, David and Jordan Meyer and granddaughter-in-law, Sara Meyer and 5 great grandchildren, Owen Root, Anna Marie Root, Kellen Meyer, Sophia Meyer and Jayce Rebant and special friends, Nancy Gafford, Karen Matcheck and Kristen Foth.


Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. Family visitation will be Monday evening 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Bern Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of the funeral home.
