Gary Keim

March 18, 1929 — February 12, 2015

G ary L. Keim died on February12, 2015.The only child of Wilbur and Helen (Woltkamp) Keim, Gary was born in Sabetha, Kansas on March 18, 1929. He grew up in Sabetha, attended Sabetha schools, and graduated in 1948 from Sabetha High School. He was a fine athlete, playing and lettering in all sports while in high school. He served his country as a member of the National Guard from 1948 through 1961. On September 17, 1949 he married his beloved wife Laura Plattner. Together they farmed and raised their family near Fairview. More recently, Gary and his son John developed a trucking venture. Gary delighted in driving big trucks; particularly his Peterbilt.

Gary's wife Laura predeceased him in 2013.

Gary and Laura are the parents of two children: Carol Keim Spangler and her husband David, and John Keim and his wife Joann. Grandchildren include Shane Spangler; Carissa Keim Highley and husband Michael; Gary Adam Keim and wife Melissa. Tate, Elena and Carson Keim, and baby Highley are great-grandchildren.

Gary loved Laura and his family. A silently spiritual man, he practiced his faith through the daily walk of life. Sometimes outspoken; always candid, Gary embodied the persona of "the old cattle traders." Brusque with people; gentle with dogs and cats, he lived and loved the rural life. Gary appreciated antique farm implements and engines, history, nature, music, family and friends, and peaceful reflection. He will be missed.
