Georgia Mae Marthaler

Georgia Mae Marthaler, 84, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, surrounded by her loving family.

Georgia was born on June 26, 1942, to Gordon and Minnie (Henninger) Mosteller on the family homestead northwest of Bern, Kansas. She attended Bern High School and graduated with the Class of 1960.

On January 5, 1964, Georgia married Robert “Bob” Marthaler. They were blessed with three children, Robert, Lisa, and Michael “Mike” Marthaler.

Throughout her life, Georgia worked at Southwestern Bell, Burger Junction, the Sabetha Healthmart Soda Fountain, and served as a lunch lady at the Sabetha Middle School. While she held various jobs over the years, her favorite role was caring for children. Georgia had a special heart for children who needed someone to care for them, including one little girl she met at the Sabetha Sale Barn many years ago. Her kindness and compassion had a profound, lasting impact on everyone who loved her.

Georgia and her family were former members of the Sabetha Saddle Club. She could often be found in the cook shack, happily serving up what many will remember as the best cheeseburgers around. Georgia had a genuine passion for cooking and baking for her family, and her sugar cookies were legendary.

Georgia was a member of NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love for her family, her wonderful cooking, and the many ways she cared for those around her.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Marthaler, on June 3, 2018.

Georgia is survived by her three children, Robert (Connie) Marthaler, Lisa (Clint) White, and Mike (Janet) Marthaler, all of Sabetha; her seven grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Koch, Mark Shroyer, Matt Shroyer, Lindsey (Josh) May, Levi (Tasha) Duncan, Gavin White (Aubrey), and Heaven (Ryan) Schuette; her ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, with another great-great-grandchild on the way; and her many other family members and friends. Georgia will live forever in their memories and hearts.
