Glen Strahm

Glen Eldon Strahm was born on April 14, 1925, in Sabetha, Kansas the son of Jacob H. Strahm and Apphia L. (Rokey) Strahm. Glen grew up in the Berwick area and attended Sabetha schools and graduated from Sabetha High School. After graduation he entered the United States Army on August 25, 1943 and served in the World War II, he was discharged on January 1, 1946. He was united in marriage to Martha Colleen Feek. They later divorced. Glen attended the University of Kansas for two years. He then worked for the Union Pacific railroad and served as a depot agent until his retirement. After his retirement he worked for Securitas Security Services in Topeka. Glen was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7285 of Sabetha, the John L. Palmer American Legion Post #126 of Sabetha and a Masonic Lodge.


Glen died on November 24, 2009 at the Sabetha Manor at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clarence Strahm, Ivan Strahm, Alvin Strahm, Philemon Strahm and Loren Strahm; one sister, Cordelia Locher. He is survived by two daughters, Angie Borman of Morrill, Kansas and Gabrielle Henderson of Loveland, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Liseten Strahm of Burlington, Kansas 4 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.


Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sabetha Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #7285 of Sabetha. The family request memorial contributions instead floral arrangements that may be made to the U.S.O., the V.F.W. Post #7285 of Sabetha or the Sabetha Manor sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
