Guy Pershing Wikle, age 91, of Sabetha, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Guy was born on February 26, 1919 at home in rural Sabetha, the son of Addison W. Wikle and Sallie (Riffe) Wikle.
He graduated from Sabetha High School in 1938. Guy served in the armed forces during World War II and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He received an honorable discharge in October of 1945. Guy was a farmer and dairyman northeast of Morrill area. He was a member of the Sabetha United Methodist Church and a member of the Fairview American Legion Post #322.
He was married to Eleanor Kay Strahm on November 7, 1945, in Bern, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1989.
Guy was married to Ruth (Sigmund) Robinson. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2004.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Minnie Pearl Wikle; five brothers, Baxter Wikle, Vernon Wikle, Leslie Wikle, Rayburn Wikle, and Hobart Wikle.
He is survived by one son, Kevin Wikle and his wife, Marcia of Sabetha; one daughter, Katherine Barnett of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jennifer Fox, Amy Hiltbrunner, Stacey Woodside, and Brent Wikle; five great-grandchildren, Kaden Woodside, Kinzie Woodside, and Kolten Woodside, Cullen Wikle and Isaac Wikle; and one sister, Joelline Stoller.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at the Sabetha Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha First United Methodist Church building fund, or the Fairview American Legion Post #322, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary.
