Harold "Dick" Eugene Campfield


Harold "Dick" Eugene Campfield, 79, Centralia, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Community Hospital, Onaga.

He was born December 8, 1927 the son of Clair Taylor Campfield and Frances Heinen at Oneida, Kansas. He graduated from Centralia High School.

Mr. Campfield served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Armstrong-Moyer Post #216 of the American Legion, Centralia. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church, Centralia, the Masonic Lodge, Seneca, and was a member of the Arab Shrine. He was a farmer and stockman.

He married Lela Katherine Fowler in 1951. She survives at the home in Centralia.

Other survivors of Mr. Campfield include two sons, Morris Campfield, Lincoln, Nebraska and Mark Campfield, Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Alice Walters, Centralia, Kansas; a brother, Max Campfield, Bennett, Colorado; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Forest Wayne Campfield in 1965 and a sister Dorothy Campfield January 22, 1932.

Memorial services were Monday, February 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Centralia. Rev. Deborah Hanes-Nelson presided. Janelle Glatczak was the organist and Doug Nelson sang. There was a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Honorary casket bearers were Grant Campfield, Garrett Campfield, Dan Fowler, Todd Campfield, Larry Glatczak, and Gary Campfield. Burial was in the Centralia Cemetery with military honors by Armstrong-Moyer Post #216 of the American Legion, Centralia and the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be left to the United Methodist Church, Centralia. Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.
