arry W. Burgoon, 84, of Centralia, Kansas passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013.
He was born November 30, 1928 in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania the son of Harry Burgoon and Verbula (Minges) Burgoon. Harry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and served until 1951. After his discharge from the Army he enlisted in the U.S Air Force in 1953 and served his country proudly until 1970. During his time in the Air Force he spent over nine years in foreign countries. He married Shirley Gill on May 18, 1958 in Plattsburg, New York, to this union three children were born.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Burgoon and Charles Thomas Burgoon; one daughter, Diane Burgoon; son-in-law, Allen Jones.
Survivors include his son, Keith (Sandy) Burgoon of Elk Grove, CA; a daughter, Carol Jones of Wilton, CA; a brother, James Burgoon of Sun City, AZ; a sister, Mary Susan (Marvin) Mathewson of Baileyville; two grandchildren, Brad and Heather Jones; two nephews, Jason (Anne) Mathewson of Scranton, KS and Mark (Lisa) Mathewson of Kansas City, MO.
Full military honors will be conducted Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Nemaha County Food Pantry.
