Helen Jackson

Helen Lanning Jackson was born on September 2, 1909 the daughter of Norman E. Lanning and Belva McKinnie Lanning near Sabetha, Kansas.

She attended the Franklin Grade School east of Sabetha and the Sabetha High School graduating with the Class of 1928.

Helen was united in marriage to Samuel M. Jackson on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929 at the home of her parents east of Sabetha.

Helen was a farm wife and stay at home mom. She and Sam farmed forty-four years before retiring in 1973, but still remained on the farm as long as health permitted. They moved to the Apostolic Home Apartments in December of 1966. They celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on March 31, 1999. Helen was a member of the Sabetha NorthRidge Church and Women Fellowship.

Helen died on October 26, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha at the age of 98.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Jackson on December 2, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Jackson and his wife, Joanne of Fairview, Kansas and Gail Jackson and his wife, Ann of Farmington, Missouri and six grandchildren, Greg Jackson and his wife, Sherry of Hiawatha, Kansas, Brad Jackson and his wife, Kathy of Topeka, Kansas, Janet Strahm and her husband, Clark of Sabetha, Jeff Jackson and his wife, Brenda of Lawrence, Kansas, Chris Jackson and his wife, Robin of Danville, Virginia and Debra Heck and her husband, Rob of Baltimore, Maryland and 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Friends may call anytime at the funeral home. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthRidge Church or the Sabetha Community Hospital sent in care of the funeral home.
