H enry Studer, Jr., 83 of Sabetha died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Henry was born in Sabetha on September 5, 1931, the son of Henry and Eva (Rooney) Studer.  He graduated from Fairview in 1949.  He married Sharon Littrel in 1956.  Henry and Sharon lived and farmed south of Sabetha.  Henry joined the National Guard in 1949.  He saw active duty in Vietnam in 1967.  He returned home in 1969 and then retired at the rank of Captain in 1970.  After 25 years of farming, Henry went to work for the Sabetha School District in 1980 and retired in 1996.  Henry and Sharon moved to Sabetha in 1985 to live out the rest of their years.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; three daughters, Melody Vaughn of Topeka, Terry McGuire of Sabetha and Vicky Harvey and her husband, Kenny of Kingman; one son, Chris Studer and Lisa Pearson of Baileyville; two sisters, Kathleen Haag of Hiawatha, Alyce King of DeSoto; one brother, Ray Studer of Hiawatha and 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha.  A rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha, with visitation following from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The internment will be Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth.  Memorial contributions may be made the Sabetha Community Hospital Physical Therapy Department, sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
