Inez Brougher- Stalder

April 3, 1911 — May 25, 2009

Inez F. (Benson) Brougher Stalder was born on April 3, 1911 the daughter of Fay North Benson and Pearl G. (Gaston) Benson at Morrill, Kansas. She attended rural schools and graduated from Morrill High School with the class of 1929. She attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas for 1 year and then Horners Institute of Music and Drama in Kansas City, Missouri. She had a small studio in Morrill taught drama and trumpet at Powhattan, Kansas, Hiawatha, Kansas and Sabetha, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Harry Brougher in 1932. He worked for the Kansas City Star in Topeka and Kansas City. He then owned the Kansas City Star route in Trenton, Missouri, Belton, Missouri, and Sedalia, Missouri until 1963. He then died in 1963. She was united in marriage to Paul Stalder in 1964. They lived in Norfolk, Virginia, Dallas Texas and this marriage indeed in divorce in 1991. She then moved to Independence, Missouri until moving to Sarasota, Florida.


She had been a member of the Sedalia United Methodist Church the Sedalia Country Club and the Helen G. Steel Music Club.


Inez died on May 25, 2009 in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Brougher. She is survived by one son Craig Brougher of Independence, Missouri; two daughters, D'Ann (Brougher) Wernick of Sarasota, Florida and Sara (Brougher) Murphy of Valparaiso, Indiana and 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.


Memorial services will be Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The inurnment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.
