James "Doug" McGuire

J ames Douglas McGuire, 45 of Olathe formally of Sabetha died Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Olathe. He was born on December 13, 1968 at Hiawatha, Kansas the son of James M. McGuire and Linda (Kanel) McGuire.  He started his grade school years in Sabetha, then attended Maysville, Missouri and later Raymond, Nebraska.  After returning to Sabetha, he graduated with the class of 1987.  After graduating high school, Doug went to Manhattan Area Vo tech in Manhattan, Kansas, where he graduated with a degree in drafting.
Doug worked in several different places including companies in Great Bend, Seneca, Baldwin and eventually where he was currently working in Olathe, Kansas.  When he wasn’t at work as a telemarketer, he enjoyed going to as many dirt track car races as possible.  He also enjoyed going to his nieces, nephews and cousins activities when they were close.
Doug is survived by his parents, Jim McGuire and Rudy and Linda Lehman all of Sabetha; a brother, Scott (Linda) McGuire of Sabetha; a sister, Amy (Matt) Lowdermilk of Fairview; Paternal grandmother, Maxine McGuire of Sabetha and four nieces and three nephews.  Doug also was survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of many friends.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfather, Kenneth McGuire; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Norma Kanel; paternal grandparents, Edward and Leola Lehman; twin nephews, Chance and Levi Lowdermilk.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha.  A visitation will be on Wednesday evening 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  The interment will be made in the Morrill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given for American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
