James "Jim" Stone, Jr.

March 15, 1964 — October 10, 2013

J ames “Jim” R. Stone, Jr., 49, of Morrill died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.  He was born on March 15, 1964 the son of Jim Stone, Sr. and Marlene (Imler) Stone at Superior, Nebraska.  He attended Burr Oak Schools and graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1982, then attended Cloud County Community College.  He worked for KR92 radio in Belleville, Kansas, KNZA 103.9 in Hiawatha, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and served as Hiawatha Chief of Police.  He worked security and served as surveillance director at the Sac & Fox Casino then the Golden Eagle Casino as surveillance director.  He worked also at the National Guard Armory in Topeka serving as security.  He currently was working for Air Lanco of Falls City, Nebraska in the quality control, safety and compliance.  Jim was united in marriage to Jeanne McFarland on October 18, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dwane Imler and Vernon and Verdena Stone; uncle, Rockey Imler; brother-in-law, Gary Bryant.  He is survived by his parents, Jim Stone, Sr. and Marlene Stone of Mankato, Kansas; his wife, Jeanne of the home; children, Christopher Stone, Kaeli Stone, Cory Stone, James Stone, Megan Peabody, Morgan Peabody and Marissa Peabody; grandparent, Norma Imler of Juniata, Nebraska; two sisters, Chris Bryant of Burr Oak, Kansas and Hollie Stone (Tony Wilkins) of Mankato, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Susan Bryant, Jennifer Bryant and Ray Bryant and Evangelina Wilkins.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  Visitation will be Sunday evening 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  The interment will be in the Morrill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice or to the Children’s Education Fund sent in care of the funeral home.
