James "Jim" Stout

J ames (Jim) R. Stout, 71, of Morrill, KS formerly of Blue Eye, MO passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Jim was born on September 16, 1945 in Urbana, OH to Harold and Lucille (White) Stout. He graduated from Urbana High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after. Jim retired after 32 years of service at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. His career also included many years of home and business construction and remodeling. Woodworking was a favorite hobby.

Jim met and married his wife of 49 years, Mavis Baumgartner of Morrill, while both were serving in the Air Force. They were married in California on February 23, 1968.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald Stout.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis of Morrill, KS; sons, Bruce (Kelly) Stout of Columbus, OH, and Kevin Stout of Crawfordsville, IN; a brother, Roger Stout (Becky Cummings) of Unicoi, TN; two sisters, Phyllis (Richard) Quinn of Willard, OH, and Carol (Steve) Gardner of Galena, MO; a sister-in-law, Beverly Stout Norman of Waynetown, IN; and granddaughters, Megan, Alexa, and Dara Stout and Lauren Long.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morrill Baptist Church in Morrill, KS. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to service at the church. Inurnment will be made at the Morrill Cemetery at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morrill Baptist Church for building maintenance, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
