Janis Ball

Janis Marie Ball, age 77, of Sabetha, Kansas entered Eternal Life on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Janis was born on May 20, 1935 in Abilene, Kansas of Swedish heritage, the daughter of the late Ted and Ann Marie (Peterson) Wallerstedt.  Janis attended McPherson High School and graduated in 1953.

She married Leon R. Ball of McPherson on February 24, 1954 and they had three children.  Janis and Leon moved from El Dorado, Kansas to Sabetha in 1967.

Janis was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairview, Kansas.  In addition to being active in her church, Janis worked for many years as receptionist for Dr. John Stone, DDS and Betsy Tedman, DDS.  Janis will be remembered for her wonderful smile and loving kindness expressed not only to her family but her community as well.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Linda Jan Ball; a brother-in-law, Cliff Kerschner.

Survivors include her husband of the home, Leon; two sons, Brian R. Ball and his wife, Joy of Kansas City, Missouri and Darwin T. Ball and his wife, Dana of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, T-Ann Kerschner of McPherson, Kansas and three grandchildren, Darcey J. Gigstad and her husband, Andy, Alexander E. Ball and Drew T. Ball and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairview, Kansas.  A time of visitation and support will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  The inurnment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairview, Relay for Life of Sabetha or the Sabetha Community Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, sent in care of the funeral home.
