Jean Lee, 93, of Sabetha, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
Jean was born on August 18, 1930, the youngest daughter of George Warner, Sr., and Lucy (Bliss) Warner in Humboldt, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to William D. Lee, Jr., on November 29, 1949, in Sabetha. Junior and Jean made their home in Sabetha, where they raised their seven children.
Jean enjoyed playing board and card games with her family and friends. Later, she enjoyed computer gaming, which she learned about while working at Kelly Appliance and Radio Shack. In addition, Jean enjoyed sewing and clothing fashions, which was obvious in her work for Englert’s and later at the Sabetha Fashion Center.
Jean had a lifelong love of music, and she enjoyed playing the piano, organ, singing, and dancing. Junior and Jean were active square dancers in three states for over 30 years and made many friends throughout the years. In her later years, Jean enjoyed Bible study and attended various women’s study groups. Junior and Jean were avid readers and were frequent visitors to the Mary Cotton Public Library.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Lee; her son, Donald Lee; and her six siblings, George Warner, Jr., Woodrow Warner, Harry Warner, Jake Warner, James Warner, and Betty Stalder.
Jean is survived by her six children, Peggy (Lynn) Hartter, William “Bill” D. (Alta) Lee, III, Michael Lee, and Kenneth Lee all of northeast Kansas, Sharon Coin of Tennessee, and Jane (David) Dean of Arizona; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her extended family members.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the cemetery.
