Jo Ann Russell

Jo Ann Russell, 91, of Centralia, Kansas, died on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Eastridge Skilled Nursing Facility in Centralia, Kansas. 

Jo Ann was born on June 24, 1933, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Hubbard) Argo in rural Blue Rapids, Kansas. Jo Ann was the oldest of seven children.

Jo Ann was a 1951 graduate of Vermillion High School. After graduation, she attended Grace Bible College in Omaha, Nebraska for one year. Upon returning to Kansas, she began working for the First National Bank of Centralia in July of 1952. She retired from full time work on December 31, 2006.

Jo Ann married Clifford “Skip” D. Russell on August 21, 1954. They are the parents of Kevin, Kenton, and Kerri.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford “Skip” Russell on November 4, 2012; and her brother, Richard Argo in 2009. 

Jo Ann is survived by her two sons, Kevin (Candy) Russell of Salina, Kansas, and Kenton (Jessica) Russell of Hays, Kansas; her daughter, Kerri (Richard) Mozingo of Seneca, Kansas; her 12 grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Lowery; her four brothers, Don Argo, Tom (Polly) Argo, Steve (Linda) Argo, and David (Sri) Argo; and her many nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann will lie in state on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca. Kansas. A visitation with the family will also be held on Monday evening, September 23, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Winifred Baptist Church in Winifred, Kansas. The interment will be made in the Vermillion Cemetery in Vermillion, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Winifred Baptist Church sent in care of Popkess Memorial Chapel, 814 Castle Street, Seneca, Kansas 66538.
