Joan Wenger

October 8, 1933 — June 16, 2007

Joan A. Wenger was born on October 8, 1933 the daughter of Frederick Heideman and Elizabeth "Laura" Blocker Heideman. She was one of nine children born to this union.

She grew up on a farm northeast of Seneca, Kansas and attended St. Peter and Paul Schools. She graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School in 1951.

Joan worked for Strathman Studios in Seneca after high school until she married. Joan was united in marriage to Clyde Wenger at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca on October 23, 1954. Four sons were born to this union.

Joan will be remembered for being devoted to her family, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and for her dedication to her church parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha.

She was a homemaker all of her married life. Joan and her husband Clyde own CW Mill Equipment Co., Inc. in Sabetha. She loved gardening, golfing, cooking and most especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her family and friends will greatly miss her.

Joan died on June 16, 2007 at her residence at the age of 73.

She was preceded in death by parents; two infant sons, Lynn William Wenger on September 20, 1955 and David Joseph Wenger on October 1, 1959; two sisters, Mary Heideman Cooper and Leona Heideman Conwell. She is survived by her husband, Clyde W. Wenger of Sabetha; two sons, Timothy Wenger and his wife, Debbie of Sabetha and John Wenger and his wife, Joy of Sabetha. Joan and Clyde also raised her nephew, Craig Cooper of Kansas City, Kansas and her niece, Janis Cooper of Manitou Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Sister Dorothy Heideman, O.S.B. of Atchison, Kansas and Gertrude Heideman Larzalere of Ft. Collins, Colorado; four brothers, Richard Heideman of Long Island, New York, Lawrence Heideman of Glendale, Colorado, Herbert Heideman of Medford, Oregon and Frederick Heideman of Eugene, Oregon and five grandchildren, Amy Wenger Bergman, Bobbie Wenger, Chelsea Wenger, Darrin Wenger and Camden Wenger all of Sabetha; three great grandchildren, Cullen Bergman, Khalea Bergman and Gavan Bergman all of Sabetha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 20, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. The body will lie in state at the church after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday with a rosary prayer service being prayed at 7:30 P.M. with visitation to follow. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Stained Glass Sanctuary Window Fund sent in care of Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
