John Eisenbise

June 26, 1930 — May 23, 2007

John R. Eisenbise, 76, of Morrill, Kansas died at his home on May 23, 2007 as a result of cancer.

He was born on June 28, 1930 the son of George S. Eisenbise and Florence Butterfield Eisenbise on the family farm where he has lived all his life. He tool pride in living on the land which had been in the family for 122 years.

John attended school in Morrill and graduated with the class of 1948. He took an interest in farming at an early age, helping his father milk cows at the age of five.

He continued with the dairy and farming until 1987. Since retiring from the farm, John as been employed at the Sabetha Elementary School, Dollar General Store and the Popkess Mortuary. He has been of service to the community in many ways over the years; Scout Master for the Morrill Scout Troop for 10 years, 4-H Leader for the Morrill Tip Top Club served 15 years or the Brown Count Extension Board and secretary for the Rural Water District for six years. He served as treasurer of the Morrill High School Alumni Association for a number of years and was presented the Morrill High School Distinguished Alumni Award during the Morrill High School gathering in May of 2000.

John was a member of the First Brethren Church in Falls City, Nebraska; in recent years he attended the Ayore Church in Morrill.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

His is survived by his son, Jacob Richard Eisenbise and friend, Codi Thurman of Manhattan, Kansas; a sister, Mary Anne Eisenbise of Kansas City, Kansas; paternal aunt, Mary Eisenbise Friesen of Buhler, Kansas and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A family visitation will be Friday evening 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Morrill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ayore Church of Morrill, Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice, Brown County Historical Society Agriculture Museum or the Charity of the Donors Choice sent in care of the funeral home.
