John Krogmann

John Steven Krogmann died unexpectedly at his home in Wetmore on October 22, 2010. He was born on September 1, 1953 in Atchison, Kansas to Norbert Krogmann and Thelma (Adams) Krogmann. After graduation from Wetmore High School in 1971 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Tawakoni. Following his discharge in 1975 he returned to Wetmore, where he began working at the Netawaka elevator. He later farmed and was a mechanic. He worked for 23 years for USD #441 as a school bus driver. He became a rural carrier for the US Post Office and continued until his death.
Steve married Emma Wessel on November 12, 1977. To this union were born three children. He and Emma later divorced. On July 26, 2008 he married Kay Graf.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Norbert Krogmann; a sister, Angela Krogmann. Steve is survived by his mother, Thelma Krogmann of Sabetha; his wife, Kay Graf of Sabetha; two daughters, Crystal Hermesch and her husband, Corey of San Antonio, Texas and Brandy Deutscher and her husband, Chris of Topeka, Kansas; one son, Waylon Krogmann of Phoenix, Arizona;  a step-daughter, Melissa Graf of Manhattan, Kansas; a sister, Linda Curtis of Arlington, Kansas; four brothers, Leroy Krogmann of Holton, Kansas, Frank Krogmann of Sabetha, Kansas, Leonard Krogmann of Paris, Missouri and Norbert Krogmann of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Colt Hermesch, Curtis Hermesch, Caitlyn Hermesch, Blake Deutscher and Cale Deutscher, and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wetmore Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steve Krogmann Memorial Scholarship Fund or Cotton-O’neal Cancer Center sent in care of the funeral home.
