Joseph Wiltz

Joseph P. Wiltz, age 78, passed away Friday, May 8 at the Sabetha Manor. Joe was born November 9, 1930 at Sabetha, Kansas the son of John and Helena (Christman) Wiltz. Joe spent most of his life around the Sabetha area. He attended grade school at Albany and attended high school in Sabetha. Joe married Lenora Grimm and had four children, they later divorced. Joe remarried Karen Bucholtz and they later divorced.
Joe spent most of his life driving trucks and raising quarter horses. He was a member of A Battery 154th Artillery Battalion with the Kansas National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Nicholas Wiltz, Leo Wiltz, Bernard Wiltz and Edwin Wiltz; and a sister Mary.

Joe is survived by one brother, Vincent Wiltz and his wife Maxine of St. Marys, Kansas; two sisters, Imelda McElroy of Louisville, Kentucky and Cecelia Hudelson of Ashland City, Tennessee; two sister-in-laws, Erma Wiltz of Sabetha, Kansas and Katherine Wiltz of Marysville, Kansas; two step grandchildren, Brady Baker of Lawrence, Kansas and Emily Baker of Sabetha, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. A family visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 at the Popkess Mortuary with a rosary at 6:30. The interment will be at the Albany Cemetery north of Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Hospital or the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
