Joyce Ann Plattner, 86, of Sabetha died Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. Joyce was born on February 28, 1925 the daughter of Oth Warrick and Lois (Turner) Warrick at Bern, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Walter “Walt” Plattner on January 2, 1945 at Seneca, Kansas. Ten children were born to this union. They farmed northwest of Sabetha until November of 1985 when they retired and moved into Sabetha. Joyce was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sabetha.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walt Plattner on November 1, 2005; one son, Gail Plattner in July 1958; a brother, Gene Warrick; a sister, Gwen Sausser in 2010. She is survived by five daughters, Eileen Ellerman and her husband, Kenny of Nortonville, Kansas, Erma Thorne and her husband, Fred of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Laura Pyle and her husband, Gary of Morrill, Kansas, Ellen Hertzel and her husband, Gerry and Becky Rokey and her husband, Tom both of Sabetha; five sons, Jim Plattner and his wife, Marge of Salina, Kansas, Neil Plattner, Randy Plattner and his wife, Sheryl, Robert Plattner, and Gary Plattner and his wife, Denise all of Sabetha; a sister, Mary Plattner of Sabetha; a brother-in-law, Henry “Hank” Plattner of Sabetha; a sister-in-law, Laura Keim of Fairview, Kansas and 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. A visitation will be Monday evening 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice or the Apostolic Christian Home, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
