Katheryn Reinhart

Katheryn Maurine Reinhart, 103, Centralia, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Eastridge Care Home in Centralia.

She was born April 14, 1904 in Goff, Kansas the daughter of Gertrude Miller Griffiths and Henry Willard Griffiths. At an early age she moved with her family to Salem, Nebraska. There she graduated from high school. She continued her education at Peru Normal, Peru, Nebraska earning a teachers certificate in Home Economics. She continued her studies at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, completing her education with a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies. She taught for 13 years in various high schools in Nebraska.

She married Lysle Reinhart April 14, 1936. To this union a daughter, Karen was born. They lived on a farm south west on Centralia until they moved into Centralia in 1981.

She was proceeded in death by her infant sister, Alice; her parents; her two brothers, Willard Griffiths, Douglas, Arizona and Evan Griffiths ,Beatrice, Nebraska.

Katheryn is survived by her daughter, Karen Van Gilder and husband Jim, Centralia; two grandchildren, Tina Zartman and husband, Dean, Centralia and Kevin VanGilder and wife, Kelly, Olathe; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katheryn was a member of the United Methodist Church, Centralia. She served two terms on the Centralia Library Board as secretary.

Katheryn was a hard worker. She loved her family and was always there to help, be it with a problem or just a shoulder to cry on or to give words of encouragement. She loved to read and enjoyed good music. She was a "Big Red" football fan and never missed hearing the scores of their games. She was quick to let everyone know when Nebraska won.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Centralia. Rev. Debbie Hanes-Nelson will preside. Doug Nelson will sing "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross" with Janelle Glatczak as organist. Casket bearers will be Leif Weyer, Eric Weyer, Tim Burdiek, Doris Armstrong, Kim Bramhall and Carl Brothers. Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery.
Mrs. Reinhart will lie in state all day Monday, May 8 at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be left to the Centralia Library and left in care of the funeral home.
