Marysville, Kansas:
Kathleen E. Reed McGarry, 92 of Marysville, KS died Thursday morning March 13, 2008 at the Cambridge Place Care Center where she had been a resident for the previous couple of weeks.

Katie was born February 16, 1916 near Milroy, Minnesota the youngest of 10 children born to Thomas Reed and Agnes Clarken Reed. She attended school locally and graduated from Milroy High School in 1934. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1937 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

She was an officer in the WAVES in the US Navy serving during WWII. After an honorable discharge she continued her service to her country by serving in the Civil Service in Europe following the war for several years.

In February of 1952 she married John (Jack) P. McGarry in Rawlings Wyoming. To this union were born two sons, John Michael McGarry of Marysville, KS and Thomas Reed McGarry (Mary) of Spokane Washington.
Katie was a member of the St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville and formerly the St. Michaels Parish when they lived north of Axtell on the old Hynes farm near St. Bridget's Church.

Cremation is planned and a Memorial Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Saint Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Gary Pennings will celebrate the Mass. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 PM immediately preceding the Mass. Inurnment for both Katie and Jack will be made in the Saint Bridget's Cemetery north of Axtell following the Mass. Memorials are being made to either St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville or the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell and can be sent in care of the Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home, Axtell, KS.
