K athryn Sue Baumgartner, 69, of Sabetha, Kansas died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. Kathy was born in Sabetha on April 6, 1951 to Les and Leora (Meyer) Baumgartner.

She attended the Sabetha Elementary School and later attended the Bern Elementary School and Bern High School. After school she worked at the Nemaha County Training Centers in Seneca and Sabetha. Kathy also cleared tables at the Apostolic Christian Home. She attended the Bern Apostolic Christian Church almost her entire life.

Kathy loved gardening, cats, and fishing. She especially loved good food and spending time with her family and many friends. Kathy always enjoyed the county fair, potlucks, and church singings. She was extremely proud of her nieces and nephews. She was usually the center of attention at family gatherings.

Kathy lived in the Bern/Sabetha communities her whole life. She moved to the Apostolic Christian Home in 2001 and lived there for 19 years. The family is thankful for the loving care Kathy received the past 19 years and want to give the staff a sincere thank you for their efforts.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Jan Baumgartner of Santa Maria, California, her sister, Peggy (Kyle) Strahm of Sabetha, her brother, John (Lori) Baumgartner of Sabetha, nine nieces and nephews, and eight great nieces and nephews.

Kathryn will lie in state on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. Interment will be made at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home or the Nemaha County Training Center, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia St., Sabetha, KS 66534.

*The Nemaha County Health Department has mandated masks for all public gatherings. Popkess Mortuary will be following all health department regulations and masks will be required to enter funeral ceremonies.*
