Kenneth Harold Knowles, 87, Beattie, KS died Friday, June 06, 2008 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville, KS.
Kenneth was born March 25, 1921, in Pawnee County Nebraska to Edward Knowles and Florence Kruechi. Kenneth graduated from Summerfield High School.
Kenneth married Iola Miller on 1937 in Fairbury, NE, she preceded him in death on January 1, 2004.
They farmed in Pawnee County, NE area until 1951. They moved to Omaha in 1952 and opened a small furniture company on south 24th street. Kenneth worked at Diebold Inc. In 1982 Kenneth and Iola returned to Marshall County to the former family farm.
Kenneth was a member, for more than 30 years, of the Fraternal Order of Eagle Arie #34 of Marysville, KS and the First Presbyterian Church of Summerfield, KS.
Kenneth leaves three sons, Irvin Knowles of Summerfield, KS, Steven Knowles of Nevada, MO, and David Knowles of Kissimmee, FL; and two brothers, Everett Knowles of Florida, and Frank (Ivan) Knowles of Summerfield, KS; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Graveside inurnment services will be Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Mission Creek Cemetery at 10:00 AM. Officiating the graveside is Rev. Herb Schrader. Following the graveside services there will be a luncheon at the Summerfield Community Center in Summerfield, KS. Honorary casket bearers are Ivan Knowles, John Miller, Walker Miller, Darrel Boyd, Gary Bergman, Kent Floyd, Jim Knowles and Greg Knowles. Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home in Axtell is in charge of arrangements.
