Larry Lee Cox, 87, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Larry was born on July 6, 1938, in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Homer Leland Cox and Margaret Maxine (Maxey) Cox. His mother passed away in 1945, and he was raised by his loving stepmother, Dorothy (Gruetze) Cox. As a child, Larry attended Pepperbox and Woodlawn schools and Sabetha High School, where he graduated in 1956. He joined the Navy after high school and served for four years, from 1956 to 1960. He served on the battleships, the U.S.S Iowa and the U.S.S Galveston, and also attended Electrician's Mate School during his service.

Larry married Dessie Murlene Sullivan on July 5, 1964. He was a loving and devoted husband for 61 and a half years. They were blessed with three children, Tammy, Alan, and David.

Larry worked at the Sabetha Creamery and other odd jobs before deciding to go into farming. After a time, he and Murlene moved into town, and he went to work for the City of Sabetha as a lineman, working for several years before retiring.

Larry and Murlene were blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Larry cherished all his family and enjoyed teasing them and sharing stories of his life. He also enjoyed attending his family's sporting events and musical programs. Larry supported his family in any way he could.

Larry had a strong faith in Christ and shared that through his love and service to others. He also shared his devotion to God by regularly attending several churches throughout his life, most recently, the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Sabetha, Kansas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother; an infant sister, Laura Cox, and his brother, Jerry Cox.

Larry is survived by his wife, Dessie Murlene Cox, at their home in Sabetha; his three children, Tammy Cox of Overland Park, Kansas, Alan (Rhoda) Cox of Sabetha, and David (Rena) Cox of Kansas City, Missouri; his nine grandchildren, Emily (Peter) Ruby of Wamego, Kansas, Trenton (Katie) Cox of Sabetha, Kaitlyn (Alex) Rupnick of Hoyt, Kansas, Corbin (Maddison) Cox of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Keegan Cox of Omaha, Nebraska, Bryson (Savana) Cox of Kansas City, Missouri, Braeden Cox of Blue Rapids, Kansas, Marissa Cox of Holton, Kansas, and Baylee Countryman of Overland Park, Kansas; and his 11 great-grandchildren.
