Leo Kellenberger

Leo Dale Kellenberger was born on November 22, 1929 to Marie (Steiner) Kellenberger and Arthur Kellenberger and went to be with the Lord and his Savior on November 22, 2009. His wife, Betty and great granddaughter, Kayla Nigh, where with him at his home when he went to be with his Lord.


In 1948, Leo was united in marriage to Betty Phillips, they lived in Sabetha most of their lives, except the six years they spent in Wichita, Kansas where he was a line supervisor at Boeing Aircraft.


Leo wore many "hats" in his life time. Farmer, clerk, ambulance driver, propane installer, fireman, truck driver, nursing home administrator, recreation park manager and a member of the Sabetha Lions Club.


His favorite hats to wear though were those of husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and Christian. But don't forget square dancer, fisherman, baseball coach and brother.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Galen Kellenberger; two great grandchildren, Kori Miller and Kobi Miller.


Leo is survived by his wife, Betty of the home in Sabetha; a son, David Kellenberger and his wife, Sheryl of Lafayette, Louisiana; a daughter, Linda Miller of Everest, Kansas; 4 grandsons, William Miller of Everest, Kansas, Gary Miller and his wife, Jamiee of Everest, Kansas, Kenny Miller and his wife, Kalynn of Sabetha, Kansas and Kevin Kellenberger and his wife, Renae of Morrill, Kansas; 3 granddaughters, Tina Nigh and her husband, Donnie of Everest, Kansas, Lisa Compton and her husband, Mark of Hiawatha, Kansas and Laura Cox and her husband, Chance of Topeka, Kansas; 14 great grandchildren, Matt Nigh, Kayla Nigh, Alysha Nigh, Haden Miller, Ethan Miller, Dylan Miller, Jordan Miller, Morgan Miller, Nathan Miller, Kodi Miller, Kai Kellenberger, Clinton Compton, Colten Cox and Cheigh Cox; 6 brothers, Lynn Kellenberger, Dan Kellenberger, Jerry Kellenberger all of Sabetha, Gene Kellenberger of Morrill, Kansas, Randy Kellenberger and Rick Kellenberger both of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Verda Bruellman of Great Bend, Iowa and Joyce Woodworth of Lenexa, Kansas and numerous niece's and nephews and cousins and special Wednesday night friends.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Family visitation will be Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthRidge Missions, the Food Pantry or the Gideon's International sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
